Shannon’s Mind on Monday(MOM): Los Angeles vs. New York

So it’s official. We are moving to Los Angeles.

Los angeles
We decided to move quite suddenly. I am still shocked by it because I never thought we would move to LA despite all of my friends and family members begging us to move. My dream was always to move to New York and I am very stubborn but even I have had to admit that New York is not a city for artists… it’s a city for bankers.

There are a billion more reasons we are moving and maybe one day I will share but right now I am too excited and nervous to talk about them. The idea of moving with a child stresses me out but I am also excited to be in the same city as all my friends from high school and college. Oh and SUNSHINE!!!!! I am so sick of these New York winters!

So enjoy my links of the week and let me know if you have any suggestions about moving with a kid.

I guess I’m not the only one who thinks New York isn’t an art town anymore. Shepard Fairey talks about his move to Los Angeles and makes some good points.

One of the only things I don’t like about California is all the anti-vaxxers there. I love what Hillary Clinton tweeted this week about vaccines.

Beyonce and Jay-Z are copying me and moving to Los Angeles as well.

Joan Rivers won her first Emmy last night!

Survive your Monday and enjoy the rest of your week!

Do not worry , I think it’s easier to move with a young child. It adapts more easily. When they are older, they have the best friends they have known for the small school …
Also while your friends are in LA and also for some children (perhaps the same age) .
And you ‘re lucky , you’ll be wearing your sunglasses all year (I’m jealous 😉 ) .
I hope it will be easier there for you and you will have a fulfilling personal and professional life .

Amelia has tons of friends there it’s just she has been at the same school for 2 years now and loves it but we have found a new school in LA for her already and I think she will like it!

BIG move! But, Amelia is still on the younger side of things so that’ll be easier to deal with school and friends. Freckles will have lots of dog parks to visit. And since you have already established friends and acquaintances there, the transition won’t leave you and your husband alone and starting over. Seems like a great thing. Good luck!

Yes… I am very excited for Freckles. It’s so cold here he hasn’t had a good walk in a while.

Sounds like a BIG step. But I´m pretty sure, you all will get it. 🙂 I think Amelia will love L.A. (even though it will be all new and unfamiliar at the beginning). A very positive thing is, that you already have family and friends there. This will make things a little easier I think. I´m sure, you all will like it there and can find a new home in the sunny state.
Wish you all the best and a not so stressful moving. Big hugs to the Haberlands. 😀
