(MOM) Shannon’s Mind on Monday: The Dangers in Best Friends and Quitting

We are beyond exhausted. Over the weekend, Amelia was in The Nutcracker and family came to see her. She slept 13 hours last night which NEVER happens. It was so adorable watching her onstage and we are so proud of her but we are also happy it’s over.

Enjoy finishing up your holiday shopping and my link links.

Amelia is at the age where some of her friends have best friends and are acting more exclusive than most NYC night clubs. Amelia has lots of good friends but no best friend. At first I was worried about this but after seeing how destructive these friendships can be I am actually happy she doesn’t have a best friend. The NY Times agrees with me and in this interesting article talks about how it may be better for your child to have no best friend.

I still use the carrier to cart Amelia around the city. It’s easier than the stroller but she’s almost 40 pounds so I look a bit ridiculous. So, Santa is giving her a carrier for her doll this year 😉

We quit something this week. Quit usually has a bad connotation but I am proud of us for quitting.

Have a great week!

I agree about the ‘friends’ at this age… It’s really hard…
And for boys I think it’s even more awkward.
Ian always talks about his BEST friend Gage… But Gage ALWAYS bites him… LMAO…
So I don’t know how good of a friend Gage is if he’s always biting him, right???

Hopefully whatever you QUIT was something that was good and necessary… :0)

        That he is…
Because he asked tonight before bed if his best friend was going to be at school tomorrow too.
And I asked who that was.
He stated in a very NoNonsense way… “GAGE”… LOL… “The one who bites me.”
My oldest son had to leave bedroom, my BF laughed and I busted out laughing…
        He’s understanding alright…

Friendship at any age is difficult. The longer she goes without a specified best friend, the better, IMO. Glad she has good friends.

Congrats on quitting! So excellent! Whatever it may be… 😉 Congrats on a show well done, too! (13 HOURS?!?! That’s like forever time without a kid.)

    Happy holidays to you all!

I am happy she doesn’t have one BFF because it allows her to play with so many kids but I was shocked when I started noticing how many kids were coupling off.

Let's Make Some Noise!
