Show & Tell

Amelia’s school doesn’t start doing formal show & tells until Pre-K, but for some reason she is obsessed with show and tell and wants to bring something to school every day.

Show and tell time!
Every morning right as we are about to leave for school, she screams, “BUT I DON’T HAVE SOMETHING FOR SHOW & TELL!!!!”

Then we forage around the apartment for something that would be a good show and tell item. Toys aren’t allowed and I don’t like it when she brings anything in that is too valuable or breakable. We usually settle on a book. Books are the best show and tell item because they are sturdy and we have lots of them.

This is Amelia’s second year in school and show & tell is by far her favorite activity. What is your kid’s favorite school time activity?

Show and tell is always big with the younger crowds. Recess, too. As they get older it changes depending on what’s allowed and what friends are doing. We’ve been through band, choir, puzzle and games club(s), scrapbooking club, Battle of the Books (super fun), science club…soccer, basketball, volleyball… I’m listing everything but the cafeteria sink. Sorry.

I will say that it’s great she has something to LOVE about school. Even better that you play along with her. By the time she’s in pre-K, she’ll be an expert at item selection. 😉

True… and Battle of the Books does sound fun!
