Career Choices

Amelia’s future career choice of the moment is to be a builder or a driver.

Amelia wants to be a bus driver or a builder.
She can’t believe that I don’t know how to drive and tells me that when she is older she will teach me to drive. She wants to take the bus everywhere and gets mad if we need to take the subway. The subway is underground and you don’t get to meet a driver. On a bus you say hi to the driver and get to watch all the fun stuff going on outside.

Amelia got a tool set for her birthday and she is obsessed with it. She caries it around the apartment and asks us if we need something fixed. I give her a list of things to fix and she “fixes” all of them. I love watching Amelia pretend to be all the different things she wants to be when she grows up!

I think it’s awesome when they start w/ the “I want to be’s’ at this age… And I love it even more when it’s totally NOT related to anything most people relate to what a ‘girl’ or ‘boy’ should do…
One of the PLUSES working at Home Depot is watching the dads that bring their little girls in with them and their little girls are ‘helping’ them. It’s the cutest thing…
I say be a driver WHO fixes thing Amelia!!! :0)

I wish we had a home depot near us! I love what you sent from Home Depot. I am waiting for a rainy day to use it!

        Awwww… Glad she likes it!!!!
        I’ve got some more extra’s… When I get a chance I’ll send more…
I’ll see if my BF can get some extra’s from Lowe’s too…
That’ll give you some to keep on hand… They also make small hammers just her size, it’ll make it easier for her.
Hope y’all are having much success!!!

I adore that you are encouraging her no matter her dreams, no matter what the gender rules say. Someone should give you an awesome award for being that cool of a mom.

She’s already picking out stuff to do, that’s real. Growing up so fast. I always love reading these posts, because I can spend a moment and reflect on what my kiddos were doing at that age.

Keep up the awesome work with her.

Awwww thank you! Honestly, I am more of the mind “whatever entertains her and doesn’t hurt her.” lol So if my daughter wants to play with a truck great! Whatever keeps her busy. Besides being wrong I don’t know how some parents find the time to get upset over whether their kid is playing with a boy or girl toy!
