When I was pregnant I met a woman who told me she craved spicy food her whole pregnancy and her now twenty year old son loves spicy food. She said she hated spicy food before her pregnancy and now but for some reason she ate it non-stop when she was expecting.
I ate tons of yogurt. Not just any yogurt but vanilla Stonyfield Farms yogurt. I ate tubs of it like it was ice cream. Sometimes if I didn’t eat it I would get a headache. Princess A loves yogurt but like pregnant me she only eats Stonyfield Farm yogurt. It’s very odd.
My second favorite thing to eat when I was preggars was blueberries. I ate them non-stop. When I went into labor I was convinced I was not in labor but that I had just ate too many blueberries. The Husband had to convince me otherwise.
Princess A’s all time favorite food is blueberries. She could eat them all day but we have to limit her because she has actually gotten diarrhea from too many blueberries. Last week The Husband asked her if she wanted some blueberries and she said, “Fuck yeah!” While we need to work on her language I am happy that she is so enthusiastic about fruit.
So here’s my question. Do we crave certain foods when we are pregnant because our unborn babies are requesting their favorite foods? Or do our kids like the same foods they ate in utero because they are used to it? Or is this all just coincidence?
Do your kids like the food you craved when you were pregnant? Are their any foods you craved that your kids can’t stand?

Both of my children really enjoy what I craved with them… minus salad with the younger one… but she’s only 15 months old.
I craved BLT’s and eggs with my 1st… she loves both of those. My second was all about spicy… and the girl will lick salsa off her fingers.
I’ve heard (don’t have any kids myself) that if you eat a lot of carrots it’s easier to get your kids to eat carrot baby food, which is apparently one of the hardest things to feed them. So you have at least one outside source that corroborates your findings.
Of course, I have no idea where I read that anymore, so it’s a pretty weak source.
Hmmmm Amelia likes carrots. She doesn’t love them but will eat them and I don’t think I ate many carrots while pregnant.
I don’t really remember craving anything. In particular. I had gestational diabetes so even if I did crave anything I couldn’t have it lol.
I craved banana bread and my son eats so much of it.
I also had cravings for oranges, green apples and Hawaiian pizza. He picks off the pineapple on pizza though.
Now I want banana bread!
I ate Mexican literally every day for the last week I was pregnant. No idea yet if my 9.5 month old likes that or not. He does like blueberries which I ate tons of. I had GD too, but was controlled well w/diet & exercise. Before being diagnosed I ate Gummi bears on all things spicy…Pizza… Breakfast burritos…
I didn’t know Amelia liked bluberries and yogurt until she was about one so you have time to test my theory!
