I was almost done with my holiday shopping but I just needed to get a gift for my cousin. She is a teacher and loves books so I went to the best book store in New York City and quite possibly the world… Strand Book Store. It is something you must see to believe and is filled with every book imaginable. I am including it in my Free in NYC list because technically it’s free but BEWARE… it’s hard to leave Strand without purchasing tons of books!
When I was done shopping for my cousin I just had to go to the children’s section. It’s impossible for me not to go to the kid’s section of a bookstore. The second I got there I saw Safari: A Photicular Book by Carol Kaufmann. It’s hard to explain this book and pictures don’t do it justice but I will try.
When you turn a page it looks like the safari animal is running towards you. Every time Princess A sees this book she screams… “WOW”. The book also contains facts about each animal but Princess A is too busy looking at the animals for me to read to her.
We also got this Olivia shirt for Princess A for Hanukkah because you can never have too many Olivia shirts. Seeing Princess A’s reaction to these two gifts is the main reason her birthday party theme will be an Olivia the Pig Safari!

That looks like and amazing book! I’ll have to check that out. The Olivia shirt is adorable. So is the sticker on her forehead. I love it when a child gets excited about a book. Especially if it’s a teaching tool!
Amelia loves all books but this is her all time favorite. And whenever someone comes to our apartment she shows it off and even the adults are amazed by it.
I love the shirt. The book sounds freaking awesome. Someday she will be all excited to read it. The sticker on the forehead???? Best accessory EVER!!!
I saw it being sold at Barnes and Noble yesterday. If you get a chance check out the book in person… it’s really hard to explain how cool it is.
