MOOD FABRICS PUTS ME IN A GLAM MOOD

Now that it’s actually cold out I am getting bored with taking Princess A’s pictures in the same indoor spots everyday. So I decided to buy some fabric and create backdrops in my apartment. Since I have no idea about fabrics I went to Mood Fabrics because I have seen the store on Project Runway.

When I entered I was overwhelmed. There were so many fab fabrics, buttons, sequins, and multiple floors… I just didn’t know where to start. I found a salesperson that helped me and even though I wanted to buy everything in the store I left with 3 backdrops and some buttons to sew onto my camera case. It was really hard to not buy more… I mean they even had Marc Jacobs fabric which I so wanted but it was too shiny for pictures.

I really appreciated how nice everyone was to me considering I had no idea what i was talking about. When it was time to cut the fabric they said “How many yards?” and I was like “Wha?????”. My cutter ,for lack of a better word, helped me decided how much fabric I needed so I could wear the highest heels in my pictures. He also told me that Tim Gunn is really nice and fab. I knew it! Then I told him about how I met Tim Gunn on an airplane.

It was really fun to feel like a fashion designer for a day and I can’t wait to go back!!!

Stay Glamorous,

Shannon

Boy, do I know what you mean about wanting to buy everything. I am a quilter and when I go into a fabric store I have to fight really hard to stay focused and only buy for the current quilts. When I see all those fabrics, ideas starting running through my head so fast I get dizzy. Deep breathe, FOCUS. And lets not mention all the bling out there to sew on small quilts. I have so many ideas and projects planned I need to live to at least 150 to realize even half of therm. Have fun playing with your fabric. Can’t wait to see the pics.

Girl, don’t get me started on fabric & craft stores! In high school I made all of my prom & Christmas Ball dresses, choir uniforms, and did fashion design for a few clients. That ended with graduation, the military, and life in general. I still sew, & do my crafts, but not at the same pace I did when I was 15.

Let's Make Some Noise!
